What's inside the app

Everything you need,
all in one place.

Haven brings mothers, neighbours and local supporters into small, trusted circles that make everyday life easier and less lonely. Here's every part of the app, explained plainly.

The five promises

Built around real
everyday help.

Not another feed to scroll. Six practical things, each designed to make an ordinary hard day easier.

Connect with nearby moms

Find parents close to you at the same stage, in the same neighbourhood, living the same week you are.

Find local resources

A vetted directory of the services mothers actually need nearby — childcare, clinics, classes, practitioners.

Post an urgent request

A sitter, a school pickup, groceries, a meal. Post it to your villages and get help from verified neighbours.

A mother and toddler playing together on the floor.

Ask questions, get advice

Join groups by location, interest, stage or parenting style — and ask the things you'd rather not ask a search engine.

Swap, donate or gift

Pass gently used baby items to a family nearby, and find what you need without buying new. Less waste, less expense, and a reason to meet someone two streets away.

The core loop

Ask. Offer. Belong.

Choosing a help category in the Haven app. Offering help through Lend a Hand. A village page with feed, members, events and about tabs.
1

Request Help

Choose a category, say how urgent it is, and pick which of your villages can see it. Your request never goes out to strangers.

  • Childcare · school pickup · groceries · emotional support · household help
  • Three urgency levels, including an SOS tier that notifies nearby members
  • See every offer, read the message, then choose who helps
2

Lend a Hand

The other half of the loop. Post when you're free and what you can help with, and let anyone nearby who needs it come to you.

  • Ten categories, from babysitting to a lift to simple companionship
  • One-time, weekly or monthly availability
  • Set your own radius — your village, or wider
3

Your villages

Small, local, verified groups with names, guidelines and admins who actually moderate. The people you'll keep seeing.

  • Location, interest, parenting style or wellness
  • Public or private, with join requests reviewed by admins
  • Feed, members, events and guidelines in one place

Wellness Hub

Care for the
whole family.

The Wellness Hub is Haven's optional subscription — affordable access to resources and services to help mothers and families heal physically, emotionally and mentally. It is built on three pillars of support:

  • If your village cannot assist, your request can be anonymously broadcast to the closest nearby village(s).
  • Body — physical support, recovery, sleep, nutrition, hormone balance
  • Mind — nervous system regulation, mental health, trauma release
  • Connection — community, healing, identity support
  • $1 from every monthly subscription is donated to a local Canadian women's shelter.

The community side of Haven is free and always will be. The Wellness Hub is optional, with free preview content — and many of our vetted Canadian partner organizations focus their resources and services on these three pillars.

Safety

A private space,
taken seriously.

Haven asks mothers to be honest about hard days and to let people they've just met near their children. That puts the burden of proof on us, not on you.

Verified members

Every member is verified before they can join a village.

Your location, your call

Share it or don't. You decide how precisely you appear to anyone else.

Report and block

Flag any post or block any member, from anywhere in the app, in two taps.

If you need help right now

In an emergency, call 911. For urgent mental health support anywhere in Canada, call or text 988, the Suicide Crisis Helpline, any time of day. Haven surfaces these resources — it is not itself a crisis service.

Daily check-in

How are you feeling today?

Motherhood shifts daily. One tap tells your village how today is going — Good, Okay, Tired, Overwhelmed or in need of Support — and Haven quietly adjusts what it shows you.

  • Five honest options, no journalling required.
  • Connects you with parents like you going through the same week.
  • Your mood is never shown publicly on your profile.

Offer help

See who needs a hand near you.

Open requests from your village, sorted by how close they are and how urgent they are. Answer the ones that fit your day — and ignore the ones that don't, guilt-free.

  • Filter by category, distance and urgency.
  • Every requester is a verified member of your village.
  • Helping earns Kindness Points towards the Haven Puzzle.

Messages

When a thread needs to get quieter.

Not everything belongs in the village feed. Move a conversation to a private one-to-one or small group thread whenever it needs to be just between you.

  • One-to-one or small group threads.
  • Only with verified members of your villages.
  • Block or report from any conversation, in two taps.

Events Nearby

The village, in person.

Online is a start. Events are how a village becomes real — stroller walks, Mommy & Me yoga, coffee meetups and village meet-and-greets, organized by members near you.

  • See what's happening near you today.
  • Any member can create an event for their village.
  • Meet in public spaces, with no pressure to stay.

Your Library

Everything you saved,
in one place.

Anything useful you come across in Haven can be saved to your own Library — so the advice that helped at 3am is still there next month.

  • Articles from verified practitioners and Haven contributors.
  • Stories from mothers who have been where you are.
  • Chats and answers you want to come back to.

Your Library is private to you.

Haven A.I

A place to ask
at 3am.

Some questions are too small to text a friend and too urgent to wait. Haven A.I is built into the app so you can ask, get a starting point, and save the answer to your Library.

  • Ask in your own words, any hour.
  • Save answers to your Library for later.
  • Get pointed to real people and local resources in your village.

Haven A.I is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, and it is not a substitute for your doctor, midwife or public-health nurse. For anything urgent, contact a health professional — and in an emergency call 911.
